Charlie Cona is a Long Island Native who found himself quickly falling in love with Tennessee while on a family vacation. He spent roughly 25 years in Florida before deciding to switch things up and move to Tennessee for a slower paced lifestyle. While growing up in Long Island he spent his time playing hockey in the winter, baseball in the spring, and enjoying time within his tight knit community. Charlie says he’s been welcomed by our community in the same way. He loves the “simple living” he gets to experience here.

While on the phone with his mother she asked him, “What do you want to do for the rest of your life?” And the rest is history. Inspired by her son’s dream, she gave Charlie a portion of his inheritance and his work began. Charlie decided to start with a food truck due to lack of available properties to open his dream restaurant. 


Charlie says the funniest part of his story is after putting together the entire food truck, he had no dough recipe. Three days before opening Charlie called up a friend who is also from New York - but residing in North Carolina - to figure out what to do next. Charlie’s friend gave him the same dough recipe most places use in the Big Apple and he’s made it his own along the way.


Charlie says his food truck went so well that he sold out to nearly every location he went to - and it’s easy to tell why. It’s darn good pizza and the best I’ve personally ever had. 


In early 2024 Charlie saw that Mrs. Kay, who ran Adamsville Hardware, was closing her business. Charlie said that by the grace of God she decided to lease to him for a year. He remodeled the entire business from February to June while running his food truck during the night. By June 24th he was ready to open and got to celebrate the Grand Opening with his family surrounding him. 


Charlie says that his best selling pizza is his Supreme pizza but his personal favorite is the Chicken Bacon Ranch and Barbecue pizzas. Another local favorite is the Cheeseburger Pizza, topped with fresh Cheddar Cheese, Beef, Bacon, Dill Pickles, and finished off with a tasty Burger Sauce.

Today I had the Meatlover’s Pizza - I’ve never had a better pizza. It was covered in fresh mozzarella, bacon, sausage, and pepperoni. The dough is rolled in semolina flour and the pizza is topped with fresh basil before baking in Charlie’s stone oven. The crust is crispy, flavorful, and the pizza is filling.


All of Charlie’s recipes are authentic to New York and he occasionally serves Italian specialty items that were passed down through generations of his family like honey balls and arancini (rice balls). Charlie’s New York Style Pizza’s hours are Monday: 11-8; Wednesday - Saturday 11-8; and Sunday 11-7.
